What sets you apart from other online courses or apps?
If you look online for courses or apps that can teach you Spanish, you will find a couple of things. You will find huge companies that teach many languages, but that are not focused or specialized in any single language. Most of these companies, along with most apps, do not go beyond much of the basics. They may not teach any grammar at all. I am trying to build a program that can teach Spanish to those that want to really learn beyond a few travel phrases (although, that’s good too!). The second thing that you will find is a bunch of Skype sessions that you can buy from native speakers in random countries. Most of these teachers do not have any certifications at all and have no idea how to actually teach an English-speaker Spanish.
With me you get a certified teacher that cares on the other side of that email or assignment. Someone that knows exactly what it is like to learn Spanish as a native English-speaker. Someone that has been implementing engaging and interactive curriculum in the classroom for years with success and just wants to share all of that with you now.
You will also find our program is fun! You will find the video lessons entertaining because I love to joke around and be silly!
What if I don't like the course?
Please be aware that you will not have access to the course after that time.
Does my course expire?
Yes, our Semester Courses conclude one year after you begin and you have two years to complete a Year Course. However, all worksheets are downloadable for you to keep. You may also keep up with any extra links or resources that I provide throughout the course.
Can I work on a phone or tablet?
Yes, just type in www.santiagospanish.com on your web browser and log in to access the course! However, I do recommend using Google Chrome and a laptop/desktop as some of the speaking activities may not work on other browsers/devices.
What makes you qualified to teach Spanish?
I am a current Certified Spanish Teacher by the state of Texas and have been teaching Spanish since 2014. I am certified to teach Early Childhood -12th Grade. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor with a major in Spanish and a minor in Pedagogy. I not only studied the language, but the method of teaching. I have spent several months in Spanish-speaking countries/environments such as Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, and Costa Rica. I have experience doing live interpretation from Spanish to English and I have even translated a book from English to Spanish.
Do you have live sessions or tutorials?
No, currently we do not have any live sessions or one-on-one tutorials available. However, this is something that we are looking to add in the future!
We do currently have Tutorial Mini Courses. These courses are to help you brush up on specific topics. Most of the topics are covered in our semester courses.
